Bat Maker

Chase Cricket Limited designs and handcrafts the very finest cricket bats from its workshop in Hampshire and we are looking for a Junior Bat Maker to join the team.

There will be a [c. 1 year] training period and the successful candidate will learn all aspects of bat making through from the initial wood selection to processing the cleft in the workshop all the way through to finishing and stickering the completed bat.

Other duties will include:

  • Assist with bat making where required and able (this will depend on the individual and how far through their training period they are.)
  • Carry out repair and servicing of bats.
  • Assist with stickering and gripping bats.
  • Assist with dispatch of new and repaired bats.
  • Other ad hoc duties – stock takes, machine and workshop maintenance, ordering supplies, tidying workshop and packing room.
  • Welcome customers in workshop.

Essential skills:

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Woodworking experience or able to demonstrate an aptitude for working with wood if not yet had the experience.
  • Organised.
  • Able to work to deadlines.
  • Flexible, willing to get involved with all aspect of working in a team and a workshop.
  • Good customer facing skills.

Desired skills:

  • Knowledge of cricket an advantage but not essential.
    Please note Saturdays will be required on a rota basis especially during the cricket season, so if you are a cricketer please bear this in mind when applying.
  • Woodworking experience.
  • Computer literate – able to use Outlook, Excel, Word.

Hours of work:
Approx 40 hours a week during our opening hours:

(Mon – Fri 9-5.30pm, Thurs open til 7.30pm)
Sat 9-2pm (Aug – Nov)
Sat 9-4pm Dec to Jul

Salary
TBC depending on experience £14-£18k

Holidays 22 days per annum

Retail and Distribution Manager

Chase Cricket Limited designs and handcrafts the very finest cricket bats from its workshop in Hampshire and we are looking for a Retail and Distribution Manager to join the team.

The role will involve welcoming customers to our showroom, identifying their requirements, explaining the products and services and completing the sale.

Other duties will include:

  • Managing internet orders.
  • Picking and packing internet orders.
  • Restocking the showroom
  • Assist with stickering and gripping of new bats.
  • Stock takes and ordering supplies.
  • Other ad hoc duties.

Essential skills:

  • Excellent customer facing skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Organised.
  • Flexible, willing to get involved with all aspect of working in a team.

Desired skills:

  • Knowledge of cricket an advantage but not essential.
  • Weekend availability – this is an essential part of this job so if you are a cricketer please bear this in mind when applying.
  • Computer literate – able to use Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Woocommerce knowledge an advantage.
